Early Years Outdoor Area
Our outdoor area is an engaging and exciting area for the children to explore, learn and develop a wide variety of skills. Having opportunity to be outdoors is crucial for children’s well-being and development and so we provide full access to our outdoor space during our free-flow provision time.
In this space our Reception and Nursery pupils work and play together as a community. By working together, the children are given further opportunity to develop their personal and social skills, by learning how to care for each other, and how to care for our environment. (And also learning how to care for our lovely rabbits!)
We are very lucky at Kerr Mackie to have a fantastic range of equipment for supporting children’s physical development. Whilst climbing, riding bikes, jumping and balancing our children learn how to take and manage risks, and develop the confidence to do this independently. All whilst developing their gross and fine motor skills, which will enable them to become confident writers in the future!
Outdoors our children have the space, equipment, time and support to encourage and challenge their natural curiosity. Providing contact with the natural world and offering unique experiences, such as direct contact with the weather and seasons.
